About the role
Western Health are currently seeking applications for Hospital Medical Officer positions from August 2025 onwards.
Rotations available between August 2025 to February 2026 are limited to current gaps within our training streams (General, Surgical and Medical streams).
The opportunity to discuss length of contract (3, 6, 12 and 18 months) and 2026 clinical year rotations will be available at interview.

Junior doctors are also supported by dedicated Directors of Clinical Training and Medical Education Officers.
Key responsibilities:
- Participate in on-going assessment of competencies via a mid and end of term unit assessment
- Work under the supervision and support of the registrar or consultant to further develop general clinical and decision-making skills
- Assume responsibility for patient care in accordance with the care model of the ward/unit, ensuring that clinical procedures are performed in accordance with Western Health policy and procedure
- Ensure quality patient care via clinical assessment, admissions and development of management plans
About you:
- Hold or be eligible for medical registration with AHPRA
- Have completed a minimum of 1 year full time medical employment post Primary Medical Degree (MBBS), and
- Meet AHPRA's recency of practice requirements for medical registration.

We also operate Sunbury Community Hospital, Sunshine Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre, Melton Health and Community Services, Bacchus Marsh Community Health Centre, Caroline Springs Community Health Centre and Grant Lodge Residential Aged Care in Bacchus Marsh. Western Health also provides the primary healthcare service at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, a women’s prison located in Ravenhall.
