About the Role

The role of the half–time Sleep Registrar (Advanced Trainee) is to provide clinical management of patients and to undertake administrative duties for the Unit under the supervision and direction of the Department Head of Unit or Consultant. This role would be particularly suitable for an advanced trainee who requires 6 months of Core Sleep Medicine training to complete their training requirements. This is a half time job spanning 12 months to achieve 6 months of core Sleep Medicine training.

 

The duties include, but are not restricted to:

  • Manage outpatients and inpatients of the respiratory and sleep disorders units
  • Provide supervision and support for junior medical staff in respiratory and sleep medicine
  • Report sleep studies for patients of the unit
  • Assist the sleep scientists and CPAP therapist in the management of sleep clinic and sleep laboratory patients
  • Assist in the medical triage of patients referred to Sleep Disorders Clinic

 

Additional duties may include participation in the on-call and after-hours Respiratory Medicine registrar roster. This would be discussed with the Head of Unit, Respiratory and Sleep Disorders Medicine.

  • A medical qualification recognised in Victoria, Australia
  • Current medical registration
  • Clinical competence as required for level of position
  • Eligible for Advanced training in Sleep Medicine as per RACP
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Commitment to professional development
