Western Health invites applicants to apply for our Unaccredited General Surgery Registrar positions commencing in February 2025. Unaccredited General Surgery positions are suitable for trainees wanting to gain experience prior to acceptance into a GSET position.

 

Western Health offers a variety of rotations, these include:

  • Colorectal Surgery
  • General Endocrine Surgery
  • General Surgery (Bacchus Marsh, Footscray, Sunshine & Werribee Mercy)
  • Upper GI Surgery
  • Vascular Surgery

 

Please note: all unaccredited trainees will be assigned a night duty / relieving term during the year.

We have a strong focus on Supervision, Education and Support!  All unaccredited trainees are expected to participate in the surgical education program and participate in research activities.

 

To be Successful in this Role, you will:

  • Hold or be eligible for medical registration with AHPRA
  • Have completed a minimum of 2 years full time medical employment post internship (e.g. PGY3)
  • Have completed at least 12 months of surgical experience/training (e.g. a surgical HMO year)
  • Have passed or planning to sit the GSSE in 2025
