The Unaccredited Urology Registrar position is for 12 months commencing from February 2025.

 

The Western Health Urology Unit is one of the largest Urology Units in Melbourne with 16 consultants; a fellow and 4 registrars supported by 3 HMOs and 2 Interns. The unit has 21 operating lists, 3 flexible cystoscopy lists and 3 outpatient clinics each week. There are weekly grand ward rounds, teaching and MDT.

 

The team consists of a Functional Urology Fellow, SET6 Urology Fellow, two Urology SET3-5 trainees and a Urology SET2 trainee for half the year and an unaccredited registrar (this position). The Unaccredited Registrar will be given the same responsibilities as the Accredited Registrars. They will have their own theatre lists, including independent flexible cystoscopy lists. They will be responsible for ward management of patients and participate in the 1:5 on call roster.

Western Health Urology is headed by A/Prof. Niall Corcoran. There is a strong research culture in the unit and registrars are expected to participate in, present and publish during their term with us.

 

Prior urological experience is essential and prior research experience is preferable. We are looking for doctors that have strong interpersonal skills and are able to work well with our large team of doctors and nurses. This job would a fantastic opportunity for doctors in the process of applying for advanced urological training.
