2026 Paediatric Registrar

About the role:
We have an opportunity for a Paediatric Registrar to join our team from August 2026 for 6 or 12 months, working in General Paediatrics at the Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s (Sunshine Hospital) site. This position is full-time, but job-share and part-time applicants are also welcomed.
Our Children's Ward cares for inpatients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions, admitting approximately 5,000 children per year. There are approximately 30,000 Paediatric Emergency presentations per year, and General Paediatrics works closely with the team in the Paediatric Emergency department. There is a busy General Paediatric Outpatient unit, and trainees get plenty of (well-supported) experience in our clinics. There are also a number of paediatric subspecialty outpatient services including cardiology, allergy, adolescent medicine, dermatology and endocrinology.
We offer an active education program and ample opportunities to be involved in quality and safety, audits and research.
Notable features of the departments and position include:
- Exposure to a wide range of clinical situations requiring independent decision making, with close consultant support
- Active teaching and research programs in place, with expectation of contributions by the successful applicant(s).
- Simulation scenarios are regularly run on the ward and in outpatients at the Sunshine site and registrars are rostered to attend in protected teaching time
