2026 Year 10 Work Experience Program

Are you a Year 10 student in 2026 and are you interested in exploring a career in healthcare? 

Western Health is offering a unique opportunity for students to gain valuable insight into the healthcare industry through our Year 10 Work Experience Program. This five-day program is designed to provide students with administrative experience and appropriate clinical observation only, helping young people better understand the diverse career pathways available in healthcare. 

By participating in the formal online application process, students will also gain exposure to the way job seekers apply for roles within our health service - providing a realistic experience of employment processes.

While we try our best to match placements to student’s interests, sometimes availability means students may be placed in a different unit than expected. We encourage everyone to keep an open mind - every unit is essential to how a hospital runs.  

The program is coordinated by the People & Culture Department, with placements offered across various Western Health sites, including:  

• Footscray Hospital (Corner of Geelong and Ballarat Roads, Footscray) 

• Sunshine Hospital (176 Furlong Road, St Albans) 

• Williamstown Hospital (Railway Crescent, Williamstown) 

• Bacchus Marsh Hospital (29-35 Grant Street, Bacchus Marsh) 

• Western Health Hub (195-209 Barries Road, Melton West) 

Application closing date: 11:59pm on 22 February 2026.

Important Information:

• Places are strictly limited. We receive a large amount of applicants each year and not all applicants will be guaranteed a placement. 

• Only students who submit a complete application within the advertising period will be considered. 

• All applicants will be advised of the outcome in early 2026.
