Western Health Medical Imaging (WHMI) provides state-of-the-art comprehensive Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology services to one of the most culturally dynamic and rapidly expanding growth corridors in Australia.
WHMI is an accredited member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologist (RANZCR) and is a leading provider in education, training and research.
WHMI operates across 4 Western Health campuses located at Western Health Footscray, Sunshine/Joan Kirner Hospital, Williamstown Hospital and Sunbury Community Hospital. WHMI services Computer Tomography (CT), Fluoroscopy, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Mammography, Interventional Radiology, Ultrasound and Digital X-ray.
About the role:
Western Health Medical Imaging seeks three (3) Diagnostic Radiology Fellows for a full time 12-month period commencing February 2027. Part Time opportunities may be considered.

The role of the Fellow is to provide radiological diagnosis, assist with procedural cases and clinical management of patients and undertake administrative duties for the Unit under the guidance and direction of the Department Head of Unit and Director/s of Radiology Training or Consultant Staff.
Positions/Subspecialty Fellowship Available:
- Body Imaging (2 Fellows possible) - including experience in MRI liver, enterography, rectum, prostate, contrast-enhanced ultrasound, CT colonography, high end upper and lower GI, urology MDTs
- Chest Imaging - high end respiratory and lung cancer MDTs, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI - with option of level A accreditation, advanced Tier A interventional procedures/lung biopsies.
- Neurological and Musculoskeletal Imaging - experience in brain, head and neck, musculoskeletal and spine MRI across 1.5 and 3T systems and multimodality musculoskeletal intervention including paediatric case mix.
- Breast Imaging - high end MDT experience, experience in contrast enhanced mammography, breast MRI, contrast mammogram-guided biopsy, MRI-guided biopsy, and wireless preoperative localisation (Scout).
Job Plan: Core Clinical Work (sessions per week)
- 7 sessions in area of subspecialty
- 2 general sessions (CT/US/Fluoro/XR)
- Option of Hybrid Fellow/Consultant arrangement incorporating 1 day of consultant reporting may be possible
(SMS Credentialing requirements will apply for this arrangement to proceed) - 1 academic session
- Relevant Multidisciplinary / Clinical Meetings - access to distilled pathology and high-end, clinically challenging cases with development of skills in presenting findings to senior clinicians
- Coordinate and participate in the teaching of junior doctors and medical students
- Participating in evening and weekend shifts - as per fellow roster. No Night Duty undertaken as a Fellow
