2027 Graduate Midiwife Program

About the role:

Western Health are currently seeking applications for the 2027 Graduate Midwife Program, at both the Joan Kirner Women’s & Children’s and Bacchus Marsh campuses. Western Health has an excellent reputation for providing Graduate Midwives and Nurses with a smooth transition to practice from student to Registered Midwife. 

The Graduate Midwife Program offers early career support rotating across the continuum of pregnancy care. 

Graduates have the opportunity to participate in the Grad + Program in their 2nd year, undertaking two theoretical postgraduate equivalent subjects and options for additional rotations  

This Program is offered at 64hrs per fortnight (0.84FTE). Four intakes are offered in 2027 (February, April, July and September). This program will be supported by Clinical Midwifery Educators and Clinical Support Midwives.

About you:

• Must be eligible to apply via Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) 
• Must be graduating as a Registered Midwife in 2026
• Must not have completed a previous graduate program 
• Must be eligible to work as a Registered Midwife in Australia 
• Must be registered with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife prior to commencement

• PMCV Number assigned through gnmp.pmcv.com.au
• Cover letter
• Concise curriculum vitae including a table of all undergraduate clinical placements and other work experience.
• Nominate TWO clinical referees. PMCV will be collecting the references.  
• A certified transcript of all results (key to results to be included).  
• Two recent summative clinical appraisals, including cover pages—from recent adult acute placements; however, if no third-year adult acute placement was completed, one appraisal may be from a second-year adult acute placement and the other from any clinical placement.
• Completed ‘Preference Form’
