2027 Unaccredited Geriatric Medicine Registrar

About the role:
Western Health is seeking an enthusiastic Unaccredited Geriatric Medicine Registrar to join our large, highly regarded Geriatric Medicine Department in 2027.
This role provides leave relief for Advanced Trainees and offers exceptional breadth across acute, subacute and community geriatrics. It is ideally suited to a Basic Physician Trainee with registrar level experience and a strong interest in Geriatric Medicine.
Clinical exposure includes:
- The largest Acute Aged Care program in Victoria
- Orthogeriatrics
- GEM units at Sunshine and Williamstown
- Dementia Support Unit
- Rehabilitation and Transitional Care
- Aged Persons Mental Health
- Acute inpatient consultation service
- Specialty clinics: Movement Disorders, Falls & Mobility, Falls & Fractures, Wound, Continence, CDAMS, Geriatric Clinic
- Community geriatrics including Residential In‑Reach, GEM@Home and AAC@Home (trial in 2026)
The registrar has access to:
- All in‑house training provided to Advanced Trainees
- The Western Health BPT program
- Extensive supervision from senior medical staff
About you:
- AHPRA registration
- Minimum 3 years postgraduate experience
- Current RACP BPT program membership (or equivalent)
- Must hold an appropriate employment visa if not an Australian Citizen or Resident.
- Demonstrated appropriate level experience and skills in the medical assessment and clinical management of patients.
- 12‑month appointment: 01/02/2027 – 06/02/2028
