About the role:
Western Health Library Service is seeking an innovative and service-focused Access and Discovery Librarian to support the delivery of high-quality digital library services across the organisation. This role is responsible for enhancing the discoverability, accessibility and effective use of library resources, systems and services for Western Health staff and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the development and management of the library website, library management system and institutional research repository, while contributing to user education, digital engagement and continuous service improvement initiatives.
The position is fixed term for 10 months to cover Parental Leave.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the development, maintenance and design of the Western Health Library Service website to ensure resources and services are intuitive, accessible and
user-friendly - Leverage, maintain and optimize the Library Management System to support efficient service delivery and resource discovery
- Manage the development and ongoing enhancement of the library’s research repository
- Promote electronic resources and digital services through social media, presentations, training materials and internal communications
- Utilize systems and analytics tools to provide timely and accurate reporting on electronic resource usage, service performance and patron feedback
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including library staff, Western Health employees and vendors
About you:
- Tertiary qualification in librarianship with eligibility to professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
- Proven technical abilities and experience with information and communication technologies to organise, manage, develop and deliver digital library and information services.
- Experience in the implementation processes of electronic resources
- Demonstrated skills of web design, including knowledge of HTML, and best practice design to facilitate accessibility, ease of use and optimal retrieval of library resources
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Advanced knowledge of current issues and trends in library technology and their scope for application to service delivery and resource integration.
