Administration Officer

  • Location: Sunshine Hospital
  • Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time, Ongoing (multiple positions)

About the Role:

Western Health is seeking a motivated and organised Administration Officer to join our innovative Western Health Mental Health at Home (WHMH at Home) service — an innovative model of acute mental health care delivered in the community.

WHMH at Home is a 24/7 service providing the equivalent of ten acute mental health beds in the community. Underpinned by the Hospital in the Home (HITH) model, the service delivers intensive, recovery-oriented treatment to adults experiencing acute mental health concerns who would otherwise require hospital admission.

As the Administration Officer, you will provide vital clerical support to the multidisciplinary team, ensuring smooth and efficient day-to-day operations. Your responsibilities will include maintaining accurate health records and databases, managing admissions and discharges, processing Mental Health Tribunal documentation, and supporting communication between staff, consumers, families, and external stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a new and evolving service that is transforming how acute mental health care is delivered across Melbourne’s west.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality administrative support to the WHMH at Home team.
  • Maintain accurate health records and data entry across key systems (iPM, Cerner, CMI, BOSSnet).
  • Process admissions, discharges, and Mental Health Tribunal documentation in line with legislative and service requirements.
  • Liaise professionally with consumers, families, carers, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support efficient team operations, meetings, and communication processes.

About You:

You are a proactive and organised professional who thrives in a dynamic environment. You bring excellent communication, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to compassionate service.

You will also have:

  • Previous administrative or reception experience, ideally in a health or community setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hospital information systems (iPM, CMI, Cerner, or similar).
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to Western Health’s values: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Safety.
