About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and committed Family Violence Practice Leader to join our team, focusing on working with Adults Using Family Violence within the state’s specialist family violence and child wellbeing service.

The Orange Door provides the first response for individuals and families seeking assistance regarding family violence, people using family violence, and those presenting with child wellbeing concerns. While our primary focus is responding to people using family violence, the Orange Door model emphasizes an integrated, collaborative approach that prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of all clients and their families.

As a Practice Leader, you will:

  • Lead and support practice excellence in responding to adults using family violence.
  • Offer expert guidance and case consultation to practitioners, ensuring interventions are safe, effective, and both trauma- and violence-informed
  • Collaborate with multi-agency teams to address complex family violence and child wellbeing matters.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of integrated service delivery model.

Key responsibilities:

  • Practice Leadership & Guidance: Provide expert guidance, case consultation, and direction to practitioners, ensuring interventions with adults using family violence are safe, effective, trauma-informed, and violence-informed.
  • Integrated Service Delivery: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within The Orange Door to ensure a coordinated, holistic response for clients and their families.
  • Capacity Building & Training: Support the development of staff skills and knowledge through mentoring, coaching, and the delivery of practice development initiatives focused on working with adults using family violence.
  • Practice Development: Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and practice frameworks aligned with best practice in family violence intervention.
  • Risk Assessment & Safety Planning: Guide practitioners in the assessment of risk and formulation of safety plans, ensuring both victims and children’s safety are prioritized while engaging with adults using family violence.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, including specialist family violence services, child protection, and community agencies.

About you:

You are an experienced family violence professional with a strong focus on responding to adults using family violence. You bring leadership, practice expertise, and expert guidance, supporting practitioners to deliver safe, effective, trauma- and violence-informed interventions. You thrive in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments, building strong relationships with practitioners and stakeholders to deliver integrated, client-centered responses that prioritize safety and wellbeing.
