About the role:

The Allied Health Grade 4 Clinical Educator - Mental Health provides essential education and workforce development support across Mental Health and Wellbeing Services (MHWS) at Western Health. There are several Social Work and Occupational Therapy Clinical Educator part-time, permanent, and temporary opportunities available. Working closely with MHWS Social Work, Occupational Therapy and multidisciplinary teams and leaders, and in partnership with the ASPIRE Unit (Allied Health Strategy, Performance, Innovation, Research and Education), these roles coordinate and evaluate graduate and transition programs, support entry-level and transitioning clinicians, and deliver targeted education and training for supervisors and the broader mental health workforce.

 

These roles contribute directly to MHWS’s recovery-oriented approach to care, delivered by a multidisciplinary workforce that values the expertise of clinicians, consumers, and carers. It also supports Western Health’s vision of delivering Best Care, every time, by strengthening high-quality, coordinated care and fostering opportunities for professional growth within a dynamic health service. 

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Lead the coordination and evaluation of mental health graduate and transition programs.
  • Deliver education and practical support to entry-level and transitioning clinicians and their supervisors.
  • Provide expert advice and leadership in Social Work and Occupational Therapy workforce education and development.
  • Work collaboratively with MHWS and organisational partners to identify learning priorities and deliver contemporary education programs.
  • Contribute to workforce strategies that support high-quality, recovery-oriented mental health care. 

 

About you: 

  • Completion of a professional entry degree in Occupational Therapy or Social Work
  • Registration under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009) with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia or Eligibility for Membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • At least 10 years relevant clinical and/ or leadership postgraduate experience
  • Demonstrated achievement in providing expert mental health clinical practice
  • Experience in identifying professional development needs of health professionals and addressing those needs via evidence based pedagogically sound approaches.
