About the Role:

Western Health’s Best Care Division is seeking a passionate and driven Improvement Specialist to help deliver safer, smarter and more sustainable healthcare. 

 

This is an opportunity to enhance Best Care - working alongside clinicians, leaders and consumers to redesign services, strengthen governance, and embed a culture of continuous improvement across a large and complex health service. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

As an Improvement Specialist, you will play a diverse role in driving system-wide improvement. You will partner with teams to identify opportunities, test solutions, and deliver measurable outcomes that enhance safety, experience and efficiency. 

 

You will: 

  • Lead and support improvement initiatives that strengthen quality and patient safety 
  • Coach teams to apply practical improvement methods in real-world settings 
  • Use data, audits, incident reviews and frontline insights to identify variation and measure impact 
  • Design and facilitate workshops, diagnostics and co-design processes 
  • Build improvement capability through education, mentoring and hands-on support 
  • Partner with clinicians, leaders, consumers and external stakeholders to deliver sustainable change 

 

About You:

You are curious, collaborative and outcomes-focused, with a strong understanding of healthcare systems. 

 

You will bring: 

  • A tertiary qualification in health, social sciences or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) 
  • Experience in quality improvement, project management or service redesign within complex healthcare environments 
  • Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement and communication skills 
  • Analytical capability and confidence working with data to inform change 
  • Working knowledge of improvement methodologies (e.g. IHI Model for Improvement, PDSA cycles, driver diagrams)
