The Western Health Cardiac Diagnostic Service is seeking a highly experienced Cardiac Sonographer with proven expertise and specialist knowledge in echocardiography to join the educator team on a permanent, part time basis (0.2FTE). The department is continuing rapid expansion of staffing to support increasing service volume, and the upcoming expansion into the New Footscray Hospital.

 

The successful applicant will work in conjunction with the existing team of educators in the echo and cardiac rhythm specialties. They will be a mentor and resource for other staff and students, and will contribute to the development of the department’s educational portfolio.

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Post graduate qualification/s in Cardiac Ultrasound (DMU/QUT or equivalent), with ASAR accreditation.
  • Demonstrated achievement in provision of expert clinical service, leadership and education in an echocardiography department.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • A drive to deliver high quality education and training in a proactive and professional manner.

 

Cardiac Services at Western Health are located across both Footscray and Sunshine Hospitals. The Cardiac Diagnostic Service’s echo team support inpatient and outpatient transthoracic, stress and transoesophageal echo. We provide outpatient echo services at Sunshine, with plans to expand outpatient service to Footscray Hospital.

 

The Cardiac Diagnostic service also runs non-invasive Holter and Blood pressure monitoring services, and in person and remote clinics for Cardiac Implanted Electronic Devices (CIED). Each site has a Cardiac Care Unit and Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories providing a 24/7 acute infarct angioplasty service, with Physiologists providing support to these areas.
