We are seeking an experienced part-time (32 hours per fortnight) clinical research nurse to support a temporary maternity leave relief position to join a dynamic and collaborative research team in the conduct of clinical trials for the Department of Cardiology at Western Health.  We are interested in hearing from applicants with cardiac/critical care nursing background and preferably prior experience in research coordination. 

 

The research team predominantly operate across the two main Western Health campuses of Footscray & Sunshine Hospitals.  The Department of Cardiology provides inpatient and outpatient cardiac services and consists of Cardiac Care Units, Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories and a Non Interventional Cardiac Diagnostic Unit. The research team are maturing our capacity for cardiology research support.  This position offers a unique opportunity to help lead an innovative research program that services one of the fastest population growth corridors in Australia. 

The successful applicant will be well supported, working with an experienced research manager and research nurses.  We strive to improve patient centred outcomes by conducting investigator led single-centre or multi-centre trials, as well as audits and industry sponsored pharmaceutical/device trials.  The successful applicant may be required to provide on-call support on ad-hoc basis. 

 

The Research Nurse will have responsibility for the delivery of direct and indirect clinical trial related care of patients and associated research activities to ensure a high quality service that meets the needs of patients and clients with adherence to legislative requirements of the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) Note for Guidance on Good Clinical Practice (CPMP/ICH/135/95), the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and applicable state/federal privacy laws.
