Role Summary: 

About the role 

Come and join our Critical Care Cardiorespiratory team at Footscray Hospital in an ongoing full-time Grade 2 Cardiorespiratory position. Working in our General Surgery and Critical Care team, you will use your acute and critical care, surgical, and general cardiorespiratory skills to deliver best care to a variety of General Surgical patient cohorts. This position includes weekend work where you will provide Grade 2 leadership and support to casual and junior staff on our weekend physiotherapy service. Support for other cardiorespiratory caseloads at Footscray Hospital may be required.  

 

Our General Surgery multi-disciplinary team provide person-centred, holistic, and collaborative care, to achieve excellent and timely peri-operative care. The General Surgery units at Footscray Hospital include Upper GI, Colorectal, Thoracics, ENT, plastics and General Breast and Endocrine. This role will provide you with autonomy in managing a ward-based patient case load and opportunity to build strong relationships with other members of the allied health and medical teams.  

 

Learning and development are integral to the culture of our department, and we will support you to build you clinical, supervision and leadership skills. We will encourage you to participate in our Research and Quality program and contribute to our stream portfolios and department committees. Physiotherapists at Western Health are also encouraged in career development and planning through the Allied Health workforce development program. 

 

You will be well supported by experienced Grade 3 ICU and Critical Care Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapists dedicated to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement. Through this you will build your skills in managing acutely unwell and deteriorating patients and those with complex surgical discharge plans.

To be Successful in this Role you will 

  • Have well developed clinical skills for working with acute, cardiorespiratory and complex surgical patient cohorts in the hospital setting 

  • Have an interest in supervision and training physiotherapy staff and students  

  • Be willing and enthusiastic to contribute to Research and Quality activity 

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Work collaboratively with the Physiotherapy and Multidisciplinary teams 

  • Ensure safe and high-quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and Live Best Care framework 

  • Contribute to a culture that values ongoing learning and be part of a positive workplace
