Clinical Neuropsychologist - Grade 2 (Specialist Medical Inpatients)

 

An opportunity currently exists for a Grade 2 Clinical Neuropsychologist within the Psychology Specialist Medical Inpatient Service at Western Health. Psychologists undertaking an Area of Practice Endorsement (AoPE) Registrar Program are also encouraged to apply.  This is an ongoing permanent part-time role (0.9 FTE).

 

The Clinical Neuropsychologist will provide clinical services to acute and subacute wards across all campuses of Western Health, and will work alongside a supportive multi-disciplinary team of Allied Health, Nursing and Medical Staff, to provide Best Care for the community of the West.  In this role you will play a key clinical role in providing specialist assessment, diagnosis, management, counselling, and rehabilitation of individuals with neurological disorders and brain impairment.  The provision of positive behaviour support will also be required within this role.  You will also work alongside a team of passionate and highly skilled Psychologists in the broader Specialist Medical Services teams - which includes Neuropsychology, Health Psychology and Clinical Psychology.

 

To be Successful in the role, you will:

  • Have the ability to think quickly and broadly whilst triaging new referrals to understand the patients’ needs;
  • Utilise your experience in conducting comprehensive neuropsychological assessments of the cognitive, behavioural and emotional status to support the care and management of referred patients;
  • Liaise with the treating team and relevant other parties effectively and regularly;
  • Contribute personally to the team culture; 
  • Contribute flexibly, creatively and enthusiastically to initiatives for ongoing improvement; and
  • Bring a sense of calm and stability whilst working with clients with complex and chronic health conditions within diverse and dynamic clinical settings.
