About the role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Blood Management provides expert clinical leadership across Western Health to promote safe, appropriate and evidence-based use of blood and blood products. The role supports Patient Blood Management (PBM) through clinical consultation, education, haemovigilance, quality improvement and system development, contributing to improved consumer outcomes, workforce capability and organisational sustainability.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide expert clinical leadership and consultation in blood management and transfusion practice.
  • Lead haemovigilance monitoring, reporting and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, implement and review policies, procedures and guidelines aligned with Patient Blood Management principles.
  • Deliver education and mentorship to nursing, medical and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimise blood product utilisation.

 

About you:

  • Registered Nurse with AHPRA and extensive senior clinical experience.
  • Postgraduate qualification in transfusion, haematology or relevant specialty (or working towards).
  • Demonstrated expertise in blood management and consumer-centred care.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in quality improvement, education and evidence-based practice.
