About the Role:

An exciting opportunity exists at Western Health Drug Health Services for a Registered Nurse to step into a permanent part time AOD Clinic Nurse Consultant (CNC) role. 

 

This role provides clinical and some administrative support to the Specialist Addiction Medicine and Nurse Practitioner clinics at Drug Health Services. Providing advanced nursing interventions for our client group, the CNC engages clients in health assessments (including screening, referral, and pathology), care co-ordination, supporting treatment with pharmacotherapy, and providing a Nurse-lead Long-Acting Injectable Buprenorphine clinic.

 

The client group is characterised by multiple and complex co-morbidities, requiring a highly skilled and sensitive approach to engagement and case management. This work is undertaken with a commitment to Western Health’s Best Care framework, and will be based on a thorough understanding of harm reduction principles.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports the delivery of high quality and evidence-based interventions in line with Western Health’s Values and Best Care framework
  • Provides clinical support, care coordination and planning, and advice and education to clients from time of referral through to discharge
  • Triage referrals and manage relevant waitlists
  • Provides a Long-Acting Injectable Buprenorphine (LAIB) clinic
  • Ensures effective working relationships with key stakeholders

 

About You:

As an Experienced Clinician in this Role, you will have:

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia
  • Post Graduate qualifications (i.e. Certificate IV) in AOD and/or Dual Diagnosis or have completed core competencies
  • Previous experience in a similar role and/or working with those who have AOD, mental health and medical complexity
  • A passion for providing safe and modern care to patients with substance use disorders
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of screening, assessment and community-based treatment options for clients presenting with AOD, mental health and medical complexity
  • Demonstrably high levels of organisation, collaboration, adaptability and communication
