Western Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Dementia Mangement Registered Nurse to join the Division of Aged, General Medicine and Subacute Services (AGMS). An exciting opportunity to support and participate in the planning, implementation and delivery of specialised clinical nursing care for people living with dementia. The position requires a commitment to enrol and complete a Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) program of study that leads to a qualification enabling nurse practitioner endorsement.This is a fixed term position (18 - 24 months) with the potential for an ongoing role post recieving a nurse practitioner qualification.

 

About you

The Dementia Management Nurse Practitioner Candidate (DMNPC) is responsible for the provision of specialised clinical nursing services in the care of patients living with dementia. A key requirement of the role will be to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team in providing advanced nursing assessment, advanced nursing management and education for patients, carers, and staff on best care contemporary practices for patients living with dementia. The successful applicant will demonstrate: 

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Nursing qualification  

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia with NMBA 

  • Passion for care of older people and people living with dementia 

  • Experience working in a senior clinical role in dementia management and acute aged care  

  • Possess a relevant Post Graduate qualification or relevant clinical experience 

  • Commitment to enrol and complete course and work requirements in a Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) approved program of study that leads to a qualification enabling nurse practitioner endorsement 

  • Demonstrated the ability to practice collaboratively as part of an inter-professional health care team 

  • The maintenance of their own clinical knowledge, further education and working within the confines of their specific scope of practice, in accordance with the boundaries set by their individual experience, competency and skills
