About the role 

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE)- Cardiac Care will work with the Education team to provide clinical facilitation, education, supervision, consultation and liaison to nursing staff, post graduate program learners and learners engaged in other education programs within the Cardiac Department, including undergraduate nursing students in the clinical setting. As a member of the Education team, the Cardiac Care CNE is at the forefront of the provision of high-quality nursing care to patients on a day-to-day basis, delivering best care to the patients at Western Health.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of clinical skills of staff by providing education, supervision, coaching and mentorship.
  • Lead, support, direct and motivate nursing staff in the provision of high quality, evidence based and culturally sensitive patient care
  • Facilitate the clinical experience of all education program participants in the Cardiac Department
  • Support students undertaking the Graduate Certificate of Critical Care – Cardiac Care course, including provision of study days, assessments and clinical hurdles.
  • Liaise with Nurse Unit Managers to assist and guide all program participants identified as requiring management for underperformance. This includes maintaining appropriate records and documents relating to performance of clinical staff.

 

About you: 

  • You will have completed a minimum of four years post registration experience working within a Cardiac Department
  • You will hold a Post Graduate qualification in Cardiac Nursing
  • You will have demonstrated effective communications and interpersonal skills in every aspect of the education- both written and verbal.
  • You will be able to work autonomously in this role and are highly motivated in the provision of excellent education and life-long learning for staff within Western Health.
  • You will have recent experience in the delivery of nursing education and training.
