Clinical Nurse Educator

About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) to join the leadership team of Unit 3 at the Sunshine Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre. This is a 12-month leave backfill opportunity.
The Clinical Nurse Educator plays a pivotal role in supporting the ongoing professional development of nursing staff within the Sunshine Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre Inpatient Units (IPUs). The focus of this role is to deliver and facilitate high-quality, clinically relevant education programs that strengthen staff capability within the clinical environment.
The CNE is responsible for leading the education, training, and development of nursing staff within their scope of practice. This includes fostering a supportive learning culture, promoting evidence-based practice, and enhancing clinical skills to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care.
In addition, the CNE will take a leadership role in the development, implementation, and evaluation of supervision and mentoring programs, supporting staff growth, clinical confidence, and professional progression across the unit
Key responsibilities:
- Provide education about nursing interventions and procedures in accordance with Western Health policy and procedures.
- Provide support and preceptorship to Undergraduate students, Graduate nurses, Post-Graduate Nurses and Transition Psychiatric Enrolled/Registered Nurses as required.
- Provide professional support education, training and supervision to Unit 3 multidisciplinary Team.
- Monitor and advise on standards of mental health nursing practice within IPU setting and develop strategies to meet identified needs.
About you:
- You are a Division 1 Registered Nurse with postgraduate qualifications in mental health nursing.
- Certificate IV Workplace and Assessment and Training
- Previous clinical experience and leadership in delivering mental health interventions, preferably in an acute setting.
- Expertise in providing individually tailored strategies and education plans that utilise capacities to work around knowledge gaps, promote critical and strengthen skills.
- You bring substantial clinical experience and a strong understanding of contemporary mental health nursing.
- You are passionate about workforce development and have experience in education, clinical supervision, and service improvement.
- You are motivated, collaborative, and committed to the delivery of Best Care.
