Clinical Psychologist (Grade 2– Specialist Medical Inpatients

About the role:

 

An opportunity currently exists for a Clinical Psychologist to work on an ongoing part time basis within the Specialist Medical Inpatient ServiceGenerally registered psychologists enrolled in an AoPE Registrar Program for Clinical Psychology are also encouraged to apply. 

 

The Specialist Medical Inpatient Services are responsible for psychological assessment and intervention of individual patients to assist with diagnosis, treatment (individual and group) and discharge planning.  They are involved in the provision of consultation to medical, nursing and allied health staff in relation to more complex mental health disorders, clinical presentations and management of associated behaviours.  Specifically, this service provides consultancy to several wards including the acute general medical and surgical units, coronary care, and sub-specialty medical and surgical services.   

 

Depending upon your experiencethere is all an opportunity to provide mentorship or secondary supervision to provisional psychologists (postgraduate trainees on placement), under the direct supervision of a Senior Clinical Psychologist.   

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Deliver evidence-based psychological assessment, treatment and care planning to patients with complex and chronic health conditions, in a dynamic clinical setting  

  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support integrated care  

  • Ensure safe and high-quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and policies.
