About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Grade 2 Counsellor to join Western Health’s Counselling and Social Work team based in Melton.
This role provides high-quality, client-centred therapeutic services to individuals experiencing a range of psychosocial challenges, including mental health concerns, family and relationship issues, grief and bereavement, and chronic health conditions.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide triage, assessment, and deliver evidence-based interventions. The role involves both individual and group work with a strong focus on holistic, trauma-informed care.
You will also contribute to service development, support junior staff and students, and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated care and positive client outcomes.
Western Health’s Integrated Community Health Services Directorate delivers high-quality care to communities across Melton and Moorabool.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct intake, triage and comprehensive psychosocial assessments
- Deliver evidence-based counselling, group work and family interventions
- Provide case management, care planning and advocacy
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support client outcomes
- Maintain accurate documentation and data in line with organisational and funding requirements
- Support continuity of care through effective liaison with internal and external services
- Participate in supervision, reflective practice and professional development
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
- Provide support and task supervision to junior staff and students as required
About You:
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience delivering counselling in community and/or health settings
- Strong assessment, and care planning skills
- Experience working with different presentations (e.g. mental health, family issues, grief and bereavement)
- Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- High level interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A commitment to client-centred, trauma-informed and reflective practice
Desirable:
- Membership with a relevant professional body
- Experience in group work interventions
