About the Role:
An exciting opportunity is available for a Data and Research Nurse Coordinator to join Newborn Services at Joan Kirner Women’s & Children’s, Western Health. This role plays a critical part in supporting high-quality neonatal care through the coordination of clinical research activities and the management, integrity and reporting of newborn data.
Working closely with clinical teams, operational leaders and external partners, the Data and Research Nurse Coordinator ensures that data collection and research activities are ethical, accurate and aligned with legislative and reporting requirements, including the Australian and New Zealand Neonatal Network (ANZNN). This role contributes to service improvement, evidence-based practice and the ongoing development of a robust Newborn Services data framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate neonatal research and data management activities, ensuring compliance with ethical, scientific and legal requirements.
- Collect, manage and validate neonatal data, including mandatory reporting to the Australian and New Zealand Neonatal Network (ANZNN).
- Monitor data quality and integrity through audits, quality control activities and targeted staff education.
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports to support clinical decision making, service planning and performance monitoring.
- Work collaboratively with clinicians, operational leaders, ICT and external data partners to enhance data systems, reporting and research capability.
About You:
- You are an experienced neonatal nurse or midwife with a strong interest in data, research and quality improvement.
- You enjoy working collaboratively, have strong analytical skills and are motivated to use data to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.
- Registration as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in Australia, with a Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent qualification.
- Clinical experience in neonatal care and understanding of the NICU/SCN environment.
- Demonstrated experience in data collection, reporting, audit and research activities.
- Well developed IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and clinical information systems (e.g. EMR, patient management systems).
- Strong problem solving, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to analyse processes and drive improvement.
