About the role:

Working within the Data Assurance Team and reporting to the Performance Unit Manager, this role will primarily be responsible for assisting in the management of the Department of Health (DH) mandatory datasets and providing analytic support as directed. This role will hold primary responsibility for the co-ordination of either the Victorian Integrated Non-Admitted Health (VINAH) or the Victorian Admitted Episode Dataset (VAED) and assist with the other datasets where needed.

 

Data assurance is one of the main aspects of this role, ensuring accurate internal and external reporting is achieved to support the key stakeholders in decision making, health service planning and funding to improve patient care.

 

This role will also be required to provide performance and information analytics to Western Health staff as requested and to assist in the continued development and enhancement of the Western Health Monitoring and Performance (MaP) business intelligence reporting system.

 

This role is conducted in a hybrid working environment and includes one ADO/month, and 5 weeks leave.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain responsibility for extraction, submission and reconciliation of a primary dataset (VINAH or VAED), and one or more minor datasets.
  • Assist in Monitoring and reporting internally on WH progress, audit recommendations conducted on behalf of DH or by WH internal consulting auditors. This includes communication of audit recommendations and feedback to management in the responsible areas in an appropriate manner to optimise data quality compliance.
  • Develop SQL scripts where necessary to support analysis and reconciliation of datasets.
  • Assist the mandatory reporting processes to ensure deadlines are met and data is of a high standard, including data extraction, validation, submission and error management for all allocated datasets
  • Develop and maintain a sustainable reconciliation process for responsible datasets, ensuring accuracy and consistency of data between Western Health and the DH
  • Provide guidance to relevant business areas and staff on the reporting requirements, business rules and data quality issues
  • Undertake or lead as directed, investigations to identify root causes of data quality issues. This includes liaising with internal and external stakeholders to address and improve data quality
