Deputy Director of Simulation Program
- Location: Footscray Hospital
- Employment Type: Part-Time (14 hours/week), Ongoing
- Salary: HN19-59 (commensurate with experience) + Superannuation + Salary Packaging
About the role:
This role supports the Director of Simulation in growing and embedding a contemporary, high-quality simulation program that strengthens individual capability, enhances interprofessional teamwork and applies translational simulation to improve health systems and patient safety.
Leading our simulation program team, the Deputy Director plays a key role in driving the work required to develop and implement a world class SIM program which supports all our Western Health teams to provide best patient care.
This is an opportunity for a specialist clinician with strong simulation expertise to contribute to a collaborative, innovative and future-focused simulation and training environment within a large and complex health service.
Key responsibilities:
- Play a key leadership role in delivering Western Health’s simulation strategy, shaping a high-quality, future-focused simulation program that improves healthcare systems and patient safety.
- Partner with staff, educators and senior stakeholders to design, deliver and refine simulation-based programs that address clinical, service, and organisational priorities.
- Lead innovative simulation programs that use contemporary approaches and emerging technologies to translate quality, safety and incident learnings into impactful change.
- Build organisational capability by developing simulation resources that support staff and educators to lead high-quality simulation projects and simulation-based learning.
- Use evaluation data and participant feedback to continuously improve healthcare systems and simulation delivery.
About you:
You are a specialist medical practitioner with significant experience in simulation-based education and a strong interest in system improvement and patient safety.
You bring credibility as a clinician, a collaborative approach to education and the ability to work effectively across disciplines and organisational boundaries.
You will also bring:
- Fellowship of a recognised medical specialty college
- Current AHPRA registration and a clinical appointment at Western Health (minimum 0.2 EFT, or ability to obtain)
- Experience in senior simulation education roles and translational simulation
- Experience and/or postgraduate qualifications in medical education
- A proven track record of innovation in simulation-based programs
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a team-focused approach is essential.
