About the role

The Dermatology department at Western Health are seeking enthusiastic consultant Dermatologists to join our team!

 

The Dermatology team provides a range of services including adult and paediatric specialised clinics, Ultraviolet light therapy and an inpatient consult service. We also offer minor surgical and medical treatments. Our services primarily span across Footscray, Sunshine and Melton sites.

 

With a range of positions and hours available including permanent part-time, fixed term and casual - the successful candidates will have the opportunity to work within our Footscray, Sunshine and/or Melton clinics depending on preference, interest and availability. Applicants who can support the on-call roster is highly desirable.

 

Our amazing team includes specialised consultant Dermatologists, Registrars, a Biologics Clinical Nurse Consultant and Residents. Working collaboratively, the team pride themselves on providing high quality diagnosis, treatment and management of a wide range of skin conditions for our community in the West. The unit participates in complex case discussion, grand rounds and ongoing education.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibility for quality patient care in accordance with the care model of the ward/unit, ensuring that clinical procedures are performed in accordance with Western Health policy and procedure
  • Provide consistent and appropriate leadership and supervision to Junior Medical Staff
  • Participate in service planning as requested by the Unit/ Department Head and Clinical Service Directors including the development and setting of targets, resource requirements and improvement priorities for the service agreement
  • Contribute to creating and maintaining a work climate which is conducive to positive morale and employee growth, development and retention
  • Work collaboratively and respectfully with multi-disciplinary team members to achieve desired outcomes for patients through effective communication and attendance and participation in unit and site clinical meetings.

 

About you: 

  • Hold relevant credentials, medical qualification and experience recognised in Australia for a consultant level position. 
  • Experience in the support and supervision of junior medical staff 
  • Effective organisational skills, with respect to time management and delegation
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for improving access to Dermatology care within the west
