About the role:
The Director of Nursing and Midwifery Workforce is a strategic leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering Western Health's nursing and midwifery workforce strategy. Leading the Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Unit, you will drive workforce planning, recruitment, workforce sustainability, credentialing, scope of practice governance, and workforce innovation across one of Victoria's largest health services. Working closely with executive and operational leaders, you'll use workforce intelligence, contemporary systems and evidence-based strategies to ensure our nursing and midwifery workforce is safe, capable, engaged and future-ready—supporting the delivery of Best Care for our community.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of Western Health's Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Plan to support sustainable workforce growth.
- Provide strategic leadership of workforce planning, recruitment, nurse bank, nurse pool, credentialing and scope of practice governance.
- Use workforce data, analytics and evidence to identify risks, inform executive decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead and develop a high-performing Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Unit while fostering a positive, collaborative and customer-focused culture.
- Build strong partnerships across the organisation and with external stakeholders to advance workforce innovation, service excellence and Best Care.
About you:
- Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with extensive senior leadership experience in a large, complex healthcare environment.
- A strategic and innovative leader with demonstrated experience in workforce planning, workforce reform and organisational change.
- Experienced in leading nursing and midwifery workforce functions, including recruitment, workforce utilisation, credentialing and professional governance.
- Highly skilled in interpreting workforce data and translating insights into practical, sustainable workforce solutions.
- An exceptional communicator and relationship builder who can influence, collaborate and inspire across all levels of the organisation.
