Director of Nursing - Custodial Health
An exciting opportunity is on offer as a Director of Nursing & Midwifery at Western Health within the Nursing and Midwifery Directorate.
The Director of Nursing & Midwifery - Custodial Health (DON) will provide leadership and direction for nurses working within our Custodial Health setting and articulate the vision for Nursing & Midwifery by working closely with the Directors of Nursing & Midwifery, Deputy Executive Directors of Nursing & Midwifery and the Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery.
This includes the provision of professional leadership and accountability for Custodial Health nursing clinical standards, clinical practice, quality and safety requirements through appropriate nurse staffing and skill mix, clinical competence, credentialing and evidence-based standards of practice. This will include the development and expansion of a strong and sustainable pipeline of well-trained and well-supported Custodial Health nurses.
To be Successful in this Role you
- Will have registration as a Registered Nurse within Australia
- Ideally have experience in leading and advocating for safe, high quality care within correctional facilities.
- Have the knowledge and skills to deliver person-centred care within the custodial environment, management of professional nursing and midwifery issues, workforce planning, clinical standards and clinical risk and the co-ordination of activities to support the provision of clinical services
- Have the knowledge and ability to ensure the workforce has the necessary skills, clinical competencies, credentialing and evidence-based standards of practice to deliver high quality care to our consumers.
- Exhibit understanding and skills required to lead the coordination and oversight of the continuous quality assessment and improvement accreditation program for Custodial Health at Western Health against the Primary and Community Healthcare Standards.
- Will have accountability for the development of Custodial Health nursing education and research strategies across Western Health and ensuring there is provision of a safe and supported learning environment to build capability.
