About the Role:
Western Health is seeking two inspiring clinical leaders to join our new Medical Education Program as Directors of Training - PGY1 & PGY2.
This is your opportunity to lead and modernise prevocational training across Western Health - guiding interns and HMO2 doctors, enhancing supervision quality, and embedding the new National Prevocational Curriculum Framework (2026).
Key Responsibilities:
As part of a collaborative job-share, you'll:
- Lead structured education for PGY1 and PGY2 doctors aligned with the Australian Curriculum Framework for Junior Doctors.
- Ensure compliance with PMCV and AMC accreditation standards.
- Oversee teaching, supervision, assessment and remediation programs.
- Mentor and support junior doctors, fostering professionalism and wellbeing.
- Work closely with Term Supervisors, Divisional Educational Leads and Medical Education Officers.
- Promote a strong culture of learning and collaboration across Western Health.
Each Director will be primarily based at Sunshine or Footscray Hospital, representing diverse specialty backgrounds.

About You:
You're an experienced medical educator who leads with integrity, passion and purpose.
Essential:
- AHPRA-registered specialist medical practitioner (no restrictions)
- Fellowship of a specialist college (≥3 years post-Fellowship experience)
- Current clinical appointment at Western Health (≥0.2 EFT) or suitability to be appointed.
- Demonstrated experience in medical education, supervision and leading education
- Post fellowship qualifications in Medical Education, leadership or similar
- Excellent communication, organisation and mentoring skills
Desirable:
- Postgraduate qualification or training in Medical Education
- Previous experience as a Supervisor, Term Coordinator or Director of Training
