ENT/Head & Neck Surgeon

About the role:
The ENT Unit at Western Health is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative ENT Surgeon to join our dynamic and growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high‑quality clinical care to patients across Western Health, supervising and training Junior Medical Staff, and contributing to the organization’s strategic priorities and ongoing clinical excellence initiatives.
The Unit provides substantial opportunities for peer review, case discussion, and multidisciplinary collaboration, supporting continuous professional development and evidence‑based practice. Key responsibilities:
- Provide expert clinical care in ENT surgery, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients undergoing elective and emergency procedures.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and actively contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive patient management plans.
- Supervise, mentor, and support Junior Medical Staff, including registrars, HMOs, and interns, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and professional development.
- Contribute to the development, delivery, and evaluation of surgical education and training programs, supporting Western Health’s commitment to teaching and learning.
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance, safety, and quality standards, including adherence to Western Health policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments and clinical services to ensure coordinated, integrated, and patient‑centred care across the organisation.
- Support Western Health’s strategic initiatives, including service improvement, innovation, and the implementation of evidence‑based models of care.
- Participate in audit, research, and quality improvement activities, contributing to continuous improvement and best‑practice outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical documentation and communication, supporting continuity of care and meeting professional and legal requirements.
About you:
You are a dedicated and forward-thinking clinician who:
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Surgeon
- Current Australian medical registration with AHPRA.
- Medical degree and specialist ENT qualifications (FRACS – Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery or equivalent).
- Demonstrated strong clinical skills and knowledge, supported by excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. A high level of commitment to delivering safe, high‑quality patient care is essential.
- Proven experience in the supervision, teaching, and support of Junior Medical Staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, contributing to a cohesive and patient‑centred service.
