About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic Food Services Assistant to join our Food Services Team at Williamstown Hospital.

 

This role is critical to ensure that our patients are provided with meals that meet their dietary needs and with the aim of providing Best Care.

 

Morning and afternoon shifts are available, including weekends.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Delivery and return of all trolleys, food items and utensils from kitchen, wards and other areas as directed.
  • Ensure safe food handling guidelines are adhered to.
  • Ensure all food service areas of operation, including fixtures, fittings and equipment, are maintained in a clean and hygienic state in accordance with departmental guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensure commitment to quality improvement and perform quality assurance activities and reports daily as directed.
  • Stripping of all meal trays and separation of components ready for washing.
  • Undertake all duties involved in the provision of meals and beverages to patients in accordance with Occupation Health & Safety guidelines and Western Health procedures.

 

About you:

  • Have demonstrated experience in frontline Patient Care/Customer Service.
  • High standards and knowledge of food safety and food hygiene matters.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have experience in heating, plating and delivery of meals to patients.
  • Be able to work as part of a team in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Have highly developed interpersonal skills, attention to detail and positive proactive attitude.
  • Have intermediate computer skills to navigate through the menu ordering software.
  • Be able to work independently and be self-driven.
  • Be able to work additional shifts as required.
  • Be able to work under pressure and readily adapt to change.  
  • Have previous experience working in a busy healthcare environment.
