Westwards - Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife & Enrolled Nurse

About the role:

Westwards is a Western Health workforce program that supports health services across Victoria through short-term nursing secondments. 

When you join Westwards, you become a permanent Western Health employee, however a key part of your role is undertaking regular Westwards secondments to partner health services across metropolitan, rural, regional and coastal Victoria. 

Secondments may range from one week to several months, depending on service requirements. When you are not on a Westwards secondment, you will work within your designated clinical area at Western Health. 

This means Westwards is more than a traditional hospital pool. It provides the opportunity to: 

• Work across different health services and models of care.
• Contribute where workforce support is needed most.
• Develop your clinical adaptability and confidence.
• Experience metropolitan, rural and regional healthcare.
• Build professional networks across Victoria.
• Remain securely employed and supported by Western Health. 

Key responsibilities: 

• Deliver safe, evidence-based and person-centred care across metropolitan, rural and regional healthcare settings (in multiple organisations, not just Western Health).
• Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams to support positive patient outcomes. 
• Adapt to diverse clinical environments while maintaining professional and clinical standards. 
• Undertake supported Westwards secondments across partner health services as part of the Westwards program. 

About you: 

• Current registration with AHPRA relevant to your profession and specialty area. 
• Adaptable, resilient and confident working across diverse healthcare settings. 
• Committed to participating in ongoing Westwards secondments across rural and regional partner health services. 
• Willing and able to work a 7-day rotating roster in line with service requirements.

Current Westwards Opportunities: 

Registered Nurse – Medical & Surgical Services 

You must have: 

• Minimum 12 months' recent full-time equivalent experience in an Australian acute healthcare setting. 

Registered Nurse – Sub-Acute Services 

You must have: 

• Minimum 12 months' recent experience in an Australian sub-acute healthcare setting. 
• NDIS clearance.

Please note: Subacute Registered Nurses will be allocated to subacute clinical areas at Western Health and will undertake Westwards secondments within the subacute setting. 

Enrolled Nurse – Acute

You must have: 

• Minimum 12 months' recent enrolled nurse clinical experience in an Australian acute healthcare setting.
