About the role:

We are seeking a passionate and collaborative GP Advisor to provide clinical leadership on general practice matters and strengthen partnerships between Western Health and the primary care sector. This is a unique opportunity to influence service planning, improve care integration, and champion the GP voice across one of Victoria's largest health services.

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Provide expert general practice advice to support strategic planning, service improvement, and organisational initiatives.
  • Strengthen partnerships and engagement between Western Health, GPs, general practices, and primary care stakeholders.
  • Contribute a GP perspective to quality, safety, and clinical governance forums.
  • Support initiatives that improve referral pathways, communication, and integration between hospital and community-based care.
  • Collaborate with specialists, the North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network, and internal teams to deliver GP education and capability-building initiatives.
  • Respond to GP enquiries and support resolution of issues impacting the primary-secondary care interface.
  • Participate in strategic planning, innovation, and continuous improvement activities within the General Practice Integration Unit.
  • Represent Western Health across relevant committees, networks, and external forums to support best practice and sector collaboration.

 

About you: 

  • Must hold General Practice registration with the Medical Board of Australia / AHPRA
  • Hold Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and/or The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)
  • Understand the issues pertaining to general practice in the Western Metropolitan region of Melbourne
