General Practitioner - Women's Health Hub

About the role:
Western Health is seeking General Practitioners who are passionate about providing comprehensive healthcare to women as part of our Pelvic Pain Service within the Women's Health Outpatient Services.
Western Health is expanding its Women's Health Services to include a dedicated multidisciplinary Pelvic Pain Service. This service will provide women with a holistic, woman-centred approach to pain management that recognises the complex physical, psychological and social impacts of pelvic pain, with a focus on improving function, quality of life, self‑management and participation in everyday activities. The clinic will improve access to non-surgical pain management pathways and have a strong focus on multidisciplinary collaboration to streamline care and improve continuity for patients.
The role of the GP will be central to the Pelvic Pain Service by providing comprehensive clinical assessment, and medical management of conditions contributing to pelvic pain. They will be supported by a Clinical Coordinator who will undertake the initial intake and coordinate follow-up care. The GP will also lead a weekly multidisciplinary meeting for case coordination and management planning. The GP may also be required to assist with education program planning and delivery.
The Pelvic Pain Service is based across Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Bacchus Marsh Hospital campuses; the GP will operate 1 day per week on a Monday at Joan Kirner campus.
Key responsibilities:
- Clinical assessment, management and coordination of care
- Leading/Participation in Pelvic Pain MDT meeting for case coordination and management planning
- Participation in patient education program
- Medical management of pelvic pain and medical management of gynaecological conditions contributing to pelvic pain including heavy bleeding, vulval conditions, genitourinary symptoms of menopause
- Considering and optimising other conditions related to or resulting from treatment of pelvic pain
- Provide trauma informed pelvic examination for investigation of pelvic pain
- Provide sexual health care and wellbeing through education, support and medications as appropriate
- Review medications to reduce polypharmacy or manage interactions
About you:
Preferred candidates will demonstrate experience in women's health and the management of pelvic pain. They will display enthusiasm for the promotion and improvement of women's health across the lifespan.
