About the Role 

Western Health has in excess of 30 Medical Hospital Medical Officer (BPT2) positions available for the 2025 Clinical Year.

Western Health offers a highly supportive, clinically rich, and professionally exciting environment in which to train. A dedicated education program tailored to basic training, includes 4 hours per week of structured teaching, in addition to Grand rounds, simulation-based training, and numerous professional development workshops.

All Basic Physician Trainees are provided rotations through the Greater Western Consortium (GWC) comprising Western Health (Western Hospital, Sunshine Hospital and Williamstown Hospital), Melbourne Health (RMH), Albury Wodonga Health, and Ballarat Health Service.

 

Rotations available to BPT2’s include:

  • Cardiology
  • Endocrinology
  • Gastroenterology
  • General Medicine
  • Hospital in the Home
  • Intensive Care
  • Nephrology
  • Neurology
  • Oncology
  • Palliative Care
  • Respiratory Medicine
  • Specialty Medicine Cover/Nights

 

Rotations are allocated via an individualised, preference-based system, with an emphasis on fair and equal access, breadth of exposure and ensuring BPT training requirements.
