We are seeking an experienced and passionate Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Manager to lead our lPAC program at Western Health.

 

What does the opportunity entail? 

This is a pivotal leadership role ensuring best practices in infection prevention, patient safety and staff development. The IPAC Manager performs all aspects of leadership and coordination of the IPAC service across Western Health. This is a senior nursing leadership role, reporting to the Director of Nursing & Midwifery. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day to day coordination and professional leadership, in collaboration with the Team Leaders, including Clinical Nurse Consultants, Immunisers and Clinical Nurse Specialists  

  • Participation in meetings, workshops and strategies for the Nursing & Midwifery Directorate and leadership team 

  • Monitor professional nursing performance within the IPAC service, and manage any professional performance concerns in collaboration with People & Culture 

  • Monitor the financial performance of the IPAC service 

  • Liaison with the Infectious Diseases Unit and WH Public Health Unit Medical staff 

  • Participation in Infection Prevention Committee and associated strategies/actions 

  • Monitoring of reports, audits and quality assurance of data 

 

To be eligible to undertake this role you will:

  • Be an experienced senior nurse with comprehensive clinical and management capabilities

  • Be tertiary qualified with post graduate qualifications (in a relevant clinical specialty) 

  • Be willing to travel to all sites of Western Health to support the team across the organisation 

  • Be committed to developing in a professional nursing leadership role 

  • Be confident to negotiate, influence and oversee performance and drive improvement
