About the role:

As an Intensivist at Western Health, you will utilise your advanced technical and non-technical crisis management skills to ensure safe and autonomous clinical practice. You will be at the forefront of making timely, structured, and accurate assessments of a comprehensive range of life-threatening problems in critically ill patients. Your clinical expertise will enable you to apply life-supporting therapy as appropriate, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

The Department of Intensive Care Medicine is part of the Division of Emergency Medicine  and Intensive Care Services  The Department is responsible for the provision of Intensive Care services at Western Health’s (WH) Intensive Care Units, which are located at Footscray Hospital and Sunshine Hospital. WH services are managed across Footscray, Sunshine, Sunbury and Williamstown campuses and incorporate an adult and paediatric case mix.

About you: 

  • Medical Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications.
  • Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine
  • Substantial relevant experience providing intensive care services

 

Other requirements for the position: 

  • Excellent communication & teamwork skills
  • Ability to supervise and teach junior medical staff
  • Advanced technical & non-technical crisis management skills to enable safe autonomous clinical practice
