Neonatal Services Development Lead (Acting)

About the role:
The Clinical Practice Improvement Specialist (CPIS) – Neonatal is an advanced clinical nursing role focused on leading and supporting clinical improvement initiatives across the Neonatal Service, including inpatient (NICU, HDU and SCN), emergency presentations and ambulatory pathways.
The role works collaboratively with the Women’s and Children’s Division leadership team, nursing and midwifery teams, medical staff and allied health to strengthen evidence-based family centered care, supporting guideline development, facilitating effective project management and ensuring the delivery of high quality, safe neonatal care.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence service development, stimulate inquiry and innovation, and contribute to strategic improvement priorities within one of Victoria’s largest neonatal services.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of neonatal clinical practice guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Partner with multidisciplinary stakeholders to identify and deliver clinical improvement initiatives that support Best Care.
- Provide expert facilitation, education and leadership to embed evidenced based practice across neonatal services.
- Monitor, report and evaluate improvement projects.
- Build strong relationships and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
About you:
You are an experienced neonatal nurse with strong leadership, project delivery and clinical improvement skills. You thrive in collaborative, dynamic environments and are passionate about ensuring safe, high-quality care for newborns and their families.
You will bring:
- Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
- Postgraduate qualification in Neonatal Intensive Care with substantial neonatal experience (minimum 4 years post-registration).
- Demonstrated expertise in clinical improvement, guideline development and project delivery.
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to lead change, mentor others and work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in women’s and/or children’s health projects (desirable).
- Knowledge of systems/process redesign (desirable).
- Membership of relevant professional organisations (desirable).
