About the role:
The Surgery, Endoscopy & Anaesthesia Services division is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated leader, who is interested in pursuing a senior leadership position.
The Perioperative Services Precinct provides a comprehensive 24-hour service for emergency surgical, diagnostic, and interventional procedures, alongside a Monday-to-Friday elective surgery program
Up to 14 surgical specialties operate at the Footscray campus, including Orthopaedics, Vascular Surgery, Otolaryngology (ENT), Neurosurgery, Urology, and General Surgery.
This also includes Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology and Cardiology.
The expanded precinct includes:
- 12 theatres/procedure rooms
- Four cardiology and interventional suites
- A 24-bay Stage 1 Recovery Unit with integrated admission and recovery services for all patients undergoing procedures within the precinct
Area of Responsibility
These areas provide patient admission, perioperative care, and recovery services (including aspects of Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3 recovery) for elective procedures across:
- Surgical Services
- Endoscopy
- Cardiology
- Interventional Radiology
The Same Day Surgical Unit consists of:
- Seven patient interview rooms within Admissions
- Ten bays in the Holding Bay
- Twenty-four bays in the Same Day Surgical Unit (SDSU)
- A dedicated gown and waiting area
- A discharge area
Key responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the management of the Admissions Unit, Holding Bay, and Same Day Surgical Unit (SDSU) as well as the operational, professional and clinical service management of the staff.
About you:
- Current AHPRA registration as a registered nurse
- Possesses relevant postgraduate qualification and/or relevant clinical experience
- Possesses excellent clinical skills, displaying clinical leadership and innovation
- Demonstrates commitment to high quality, safe and person-centered care
