We are seeking a new graduate or early career (up to two years post graduation) occupational therapist who is passionate about working in a multidisciplinary mental health team.

 

The role is located in the brand-new Sunshine Mental Health & Wellbeing Centre and provides acute mental health care to consumers.

This is an opportunity to work in an expanding growth corridor of metropolitan Melbourne.

 

The team is comprised of enthusiastic and passionate clinicians (nursing, occupational therapy, social work, psychology and medical) who strive to promote mental health and wellbeing for consumers while also supporting their carers.

The role is discipline specific allowing development of skills in facilitating groups, screening and assessing consumers functional capacity, individual interventions, sensory modulation, helping consumers with NDIS navigation while on the unit and supporting and facilitating the activity and participation needs of consumers.

 

This is a full-time role working between Monday to Friday.

 

We expect all our team members to demonstrate the Western Health values and to contribute to provision of multidisciplinary care for consumers.

The successful applicant will receive supervision from an experienced occupational therapist and will be part of an OT team in the unit.

 

To be Successful in this Role, you will:

  • Positively contribute to the multidisciplinary team and promote occupational therapy practice domains to other clinicians 
  • Have an allocation of consumers that you will work with to provide screening and discipline specific assessments and interventions 
  • Hold high professional standards, are accountable for your decisions and committed to further developing your career 
  • Possess strong assessment, clinical reasoning, problem solving and prioritisation skills teamed with a willingness to learn
  • Enjoy working in a fast paced environment
  • Be organised while still remaining flexible to adapt to the changing needs of the consumers on the unit
