About the role:

As Operations Manager - Maternity Services, you will be a key member of the Women’s and Children’s leadership team, providing operational leadership across a large and complex maternity service. Working closely with the Head of Unit for Obstetrics, the Midwifery Unit Managers, Divisional Director and multidisciplinary teams, you will help drive safe, high-quality, efficient and sustainable care across inpatient maternity care, Birthing, the Maternity Assessment Centre, Midwifery at Home, Lactation Services, Midwifery Group Practice and maternity services at Bacchus Marsh. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact through visible leadership, service improvement and strong clinical, operational and financial governance.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead operational, financial and clinical governance across maternity services to support safe, high-quality care.
  • Partner with clinical leaders and unit managers to monitor performance, deliver key service KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support workforce planning, recruitment, performance development and succession planning across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Develop and implement service operational plans, budgets and strategies to manage growth, activity and financial performance.
  • Promote a culture of Best Care, clinical safety, innovation and evidence-based practice across the service.

 

About you:

  • Eligible for registration as a midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or an equivalent professional body.
  • Extensive clinical and management experience in a large, complex healthcare organisation, ideally at a senior level.
  • Proven ability to lead people, manage change and work effectively across strategic and operational priorities.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • High-level analytical capability, sound judgement and a commitment to safety, continuous improvement and innovation.
