About the role
Western Health is seeking a General Paediatrician to join our Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s team for 7 months to cover long service leave.
The paediatricians at Western Health manage a broad array of paediatric health issues, providing comprehensive and compassionate care to the multicultural paediatric population of Western Melbourne.
Clinical appointment is 0.1 FTE to cover a weekly clinic (Tuesday AM). There is the optional opportunity for additional FTE to cover a fortnightly clinic (Tuesday PM), and for a suitably trained clinician there is a fortnightly Allergy clinic (Wednesday AM) available. Consultant paediatrician outpatient clinics manage a range of complex general and developmental patients. The Paediatrician will be involved in teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and medical students. There are ample opportunities for peer review and discussion, and the unit has a supportive and collegiate culture.
The successful candidate may elect to participate on the inpatient General Paediatric on-call roster.
This role commences on 15th November 2025 for 7 months.
To be Successful in this Role, you will:
- Have recognised qualifications as a General Paediatrician with experience in managing patients across general, developmental, and behavioural paediatric medicine.
- Have recent acute inpatient experience, ideally at Consultant level, for those wishing to participate on the inpatient roster.
- Contribute to a positive organisational culture and role model professionalism with respect to patient dignity and compassion, effective communication, and ethical clinical care.
- Actively participate in teaching and supervision of Junior Medical Staff and Medical Students
