Physiotherapist - Grade 3 (Cardiorespiratory)

About the role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Physiotherapist to join our Cardiorespiratory team at Footscray Hospital in a full-time, fixed-term position until July 12, 2026.
This Grade 3 Physiotherapy position will support the Special Medicine, General Surgical caseloads, including ENT and General Medicine at Footscray Hospital. Experience working in critical care (General Surgery/ICU/NIV) is desirable. Working in this position you will use your expertise in Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy, person-centred care, and evidence-based practice to work collaboratively with the Multidisciplinary Team to deliver Best Care to a variety of complex patient cohorts including acute respiratory and critical illnesses, tracheostomy and complex general medical patients.
As a Grade 3 Physiotherapist you will provide leadership to the Cardiorespiratory team and have the opportunity to collaborate on service delivery with the broader cardiorespiratory team across Footscray and Sunshine hospital sites.
This is a well-supported position and provides the opportunity for you to develop your clinical, leadership, supervision skills; joining a team that is dedicated to excellent patient outcomes, evidence-based practice and continuous improvement. Grade 3 Physiotherapists at Western Health participate in Research and Quality Improvement as well as Education and Training programs within the Physiotherapy service.
Key responsibilities:
- Expert assessment and treatment skills in the delivery of evidence-based person-centred Physiotherapy services in Cardiorespiratory cohort
- Working as part of an innovative and energetic physiotherapy department and multidisciplinary teams
- Sound communication and organisational skills are essential for this position
- Involved in supervision of Grade 2 physiotherapist and physiotherapy students
- Ensure safe and high-quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and Live Best Care framework
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have expertise in Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy, including skills in chronic disease management, complex discharge planning, and in managing the acutely unwell patient. Critical Care, ICU and NIV experience is highly desirable
- Be willing to learn and be committed to providing excellent patient care
- Have well developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt and be flexible
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team
- Ensure safe and high-quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and policies
