About the role

We are looking for an experienced Paediatric Orthopaedic Physiotherapist to join our Paediatric team in a fixed-term, part-time position (0.4EFT) until August 2026.

 

In this Grade 3 Physiotherapy position, you will work with our outpatient physiotherapy orthopaedic team in our Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Working in this position you will use your clinical expertise and evidence-based practice to deliver Best Care to a variety of paediatric orthopaedic conditions, such as post-surgical presentations, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, arthrogryposis, brachial plexus palsy, and limb anomalies. You will also support our Paediatric Aquatic Physiotherapy service in our on-site hydrotherapy pool.

Paediatric Orthopaedic Advanced Practice Physiotherapy credentialling and experience is highly desirable, as this will provide additional opportunities to work with our Paediatric Advanced Practice Physiotherapy team. This team provides service to Developmental Hip Dysplasia (DDH) and Paediatric Orthopaedic Screening and Congenital Talipes Equinovarus clinics (CTEV).

 

This is a well-supported position and provides you with the opportunity to develop your clinical, leadership, and supervision skills; joining a team that is dedicated to excellent outcomes for the child, family-centred and evidence-based practice. You will also contribute to the leadership of the paediatric orthopaedic physiotherapy team and support the development of Grade 1 and 2 physiotherapists.

 

Professional development is widely available in our team with both internal and external opportunities.  Grade 3 Physiotherapists at Western Health participate in Research and Quality Improvement as well as Education and Training programs within the Physiotherapy service.

 

 

About you:

  • Have clinical expertise for the assessment and management of paediatric orthopaedic conditions across the continuum of care
  • Have experience working as a credentialled Advanced Practice Paediatric Physiotherapist in one or both of DDH and CTEV, including radiological interpretation, differential diagnosis, clinical assessment, and management (highly desirable)
  • Have completed relevant Advanced Paediatric training such as SCiPOP and Ponseti courses (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Work collaboratively with the Physiotherapy, Paediatric Orthopaedic, and multidisciplinary teams 
  • Ensure safe and high-quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and policies
