About the role:

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced Grade 2 Physiotherapist to join our Paediatric and Neonatal Team in an ongoing capacity. Partial applications and enquiries welcome.

 

The successful candidate will use their Paediatric and Neonatal Physiotherapy skills to deliver best care to a variety of complex client cohorts. The caseload is focused on the 0-2yo age group. This role will include inpatient and outpatient management of preterm and medically complex infants, infants with genetic or neurological conditions, and children presenting with developmental delay. Depending on areas of experience and interest, this role may include service provision on the Children’s ward, in the Special Care Nursery and in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The role will also include outpatient clinics and onwards referral to appropriate community and NDIS services. The Paediatric and Newborn Services Unit has a strong focus on patient-centred and goal directed care across the Multidisciplinary team, achieving excellent outcomes for patients and their families. It will include provision of aquatic Physiotherapy in our on-site hydrotherapy pool.

 

This is a well-supported position and provides opportunity to further develop your clinical, supervision and leadership skills, joining a team that is dedicated to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement. Grade 2 Physiotherapists at Western Health participate in our Research and Quality program and contribute to our stream portfolios and department committees. There may also be opportunities to rotate into the Paediatric Physiotherapy Orthopaedic Stream.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Delivery of high-quality clinical care to a complex patient caseload aged 0-2 years old in an inpatient and outpatient setting 
  • Working with medically fragile and preterm infants 
  • Provision of aquatic physiotherapy 
  • Working collaboratively with a strong multi-disciplinary team 
  • Supervision of students and Grade 1 Physiotherapists 

 

About you: 

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have well developed clinical skills for working with children in inpatient and/or outpatient settings. Experience in working with children under the age of 2 is essential (neonatal inpatient experience would be highly regarded)
  • Have experience in supervising staff and students 
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Work collaboratively with the Physiotherapy and Multidisciplinary teams 
  • Ensure safe and high-quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and Live Best Care framework 
  • Contribute to a culture that values ongoing learning and be part of a positive workplace
