About the Role:

This Grade 3 Physiotherapy position has a primary caseload in the Neonatal ICU/Special Care Nursery and outpatient clinics. This role involves early assessment and intervention of preterm and medically complex neonates, neurodevelopmental follow-up of this population and management of paediatric clients aged 0-2years with neurological concerns or developmental delay.

 

This role supports the broader neurodevelopmental paediatric physiotherapy team at Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Working in this position you will use your expertise in Neonatal Physiotherapy, child and family centred care, and evidence-based practice to work collaboratively with the Multidisciplinary Team to deliver Best Care. Knowledge of and experience administering standardised assessments, such as Prechtl’s General Movement Assessment, the HNNE or LAPI, HINE, and AIMS, is essential for this position. 

 

You will receive supervision from our Grade 4 Paediatric Physiotherapist, and be well supported in developing your clinical, leadership, and supervision skills. Grade 3 Physiotherapists at Western Health contribute to our Education and Training programs within the Physiotherapy service to support the development of Grade 1 and 2 Physiotherapists. As a Grade 3 Physiotherapist you will also have the opportunity to collaborate on service delivery and innovation, and participate in Research and Quality Improvement, joining a team that is dedicated to excellent patient outcomes, evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.  

 

About You:

  • Have well developed Neonatal Physiotherapy skills in an inpatient and outpatient hospital setting
  • Expertise in clinical supervision and the development of junior physiotherapists
  • Have well developed communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to adapt and be flexible  
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team  
  • Be willing to learn and be committed to providing excellent patient care  
  • Ensure safe and high-quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and policies
