Project Director - New Melton Hospital

About the role:
Western Health is seeking an experienced and strategic executive to lead our involvement in the New Melton Hospital (NMH) Project — a landmark health infrastructure development that will transform care delivery for Melbourne’s growing western community.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Project Director will lead Western Health’s governance, strategy, planning and operational readiness activities across all phases of the project lifecycle, from design through to commissioning and transition to operations (2028/29).
Key responsibilities:
- Lead Western Health’s input across all NMH project workstreams
- Act as senior advocate within the project governance framework
- Oversee clinical, operational, workforce, digital and commissioning planning
- Manage a multidisciplinary project team (10–30 EFT)
- Hold budget accountability of approximately $3M per annum
- Ensure delivery aligns with organisational strategy and government requirements
The role works closely with the Department of Health, Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority, and external project partners.

Western Health also provides the primary healthcare service at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, a women’s prison located in Ravenhall.
